The Riviera Theatre is home of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, founded by Roger Durling in 1986, although the original theater itself was first built in the 1920s. For this theater remodel, SMS Architects maintained the original eclectic red color scheme and saved the "R" emblazoned wall sconces characteristic of this venue. The historical exterior has also been 100% maintained. The original character of this historically revered theater has been considered thoughtfully and now transcends to a modern state-of-the-art movie viewing experience.
