Beloved Newport Beach restaurant gets reboot as Ritz Prime Seafood

Come Oct. 12, the proprietors of the throwback dining institution will quickly discover if their reinvented Ritz, renamed The Ritz Prime Seafood, pays off. The original Ritz – known for its Old World charm and three-martini crowds – closed in early 2014 after a 37-year run.

As such, every detail at Ritz Prime is a stark contrast to the stuffy dark woods, antique chandeliers and tufted black leather booths that made the landmark Ritz a “place to be seen” for more than 30 years.

Diners stepping inside the 185-seat restaurant are met with an instant showstopper: a waterfront view. The 6,800-square-foot open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows were designed to showcase the harbor.
